Our shows are multi-generational for children and adults.
Children must be at least 7 years old and entering 2nd grade or higher to audition.
Auditions and Callbacks will be held at the Amherst Regional Middle School, 170 Chestnut St, Amherst, MA 01002.
Audition dates and time slots:
- Friday, September 12 from 6:00 pm to 9:15 pm
- Saturday, September 13 from 10:00 am to 12:15 pm and 1:30 pm to 6:45 pm
- Sunday, September 14 from 10:00 am to 12:15 pm and 1:30 pm to 6:45 pm
- Callbacks will be on Monday, September 15 from 6:00-9:00 pm

Audition Information from the Director
If you are auditioning for a lead, you will be required to sing a song from the show. An accompanist will be available for you to use. No a cappella auditions, please. Below is a list of suggested songs by character. Sheet music for these songs can be found below. Please sing the measures indicated (ex: m1-m29) and in the given key. Our preference is that you sing a song from the show, but if you choose to sing a song that is not from the show please bring sheet music in the correct key for the accompanist. Each person auditioning should expect to sing one song, even if they wish to be considered for multiple roles. Some people may be asked to sing more than one song if the director so desires. If multiple songs are listed for callbacks, please prepare all of them.
Note: We hope to create a cast of the best performers possible. We will cast based on skills and chemistry with other actors, not on look, gender, age, race, body type, or anything else. Audition for a part you can perform and do not self-select out because of any preconceived notion of who the part might be for.
What we are looking for at auditions:

- How well do you work with others?
- Can you take direction?
- How well do you move?
- Can you learn choreography?
- Can you dance and act at the same time?
- Can you tap dance?
- What is your vocal range?

She and her dog, Toto, are inseparable. She is a bit outspoken and headstrong, but dearly loves her family and friends. | Aunt Em Gender: Female Identifying Age: Adult | A typical hard-working farmer’s wife. Zeke (Cowardly Lion) Gender: Any Age: Adult/Older Teen | Zeke is a farmhand who acts tough from time to time, but whose true fearful self comes out in any scary situation. Miss Gulch / Wicked Witch Gender: Female Identifying Age: Adult | Miss Gulch – Dorothy’s well-off neighbor who is cold-hearted and hates Toto for getting in her yard. Wicked Witch of the West – Angry witch who wants revenge on Dorothy for her house falling on her sister. The character must have a strong stage presence and a flair for being dramatic. | Professor Marvel / Wizard of Oz Gender: Any Age: Adult | Professor Marvel – A traveling salesman whose career at the moment is fortune telling. The audience should get the idea that Professor Marvel is a bit of a con artist; however, the character has a good heart. Wizard of Oz – A con artist – just an average person with a fantastic facade. When playing the mysterious voice, the actor should sound strong and commanding. Glinda Gender: Female Identifying Age: Adult/Older Teen | The Good Witch of the North who guides Dorothy in her journey through Oz.
